Samsung Galaxy A51 vs. iPhone SE 2020

It seems like both Apple and Samsung have figured out how to prepare cheap phones without sacrificing the performance and premium user experience. The release of Samsung Galaxy A51 and iPhone SE 2020 is a testament to that. Both these similarly priced phones tend to satisfy the needs of a big audience. In this article, we will discuss both these phones in a bit of detail.

Specs

Pricing

Both the iPhone SE 2020 and Galaxy A51 cost $399. You can buy these phones from known carriers, or buy them unlocked.

While comparing both these phones, you will notice that the Samsung Galaxy A51 comes with an internal storage of 128GB, which makes this phone a more preferable option for most smartphone users. The iPhone SE 2020, on the other hand, comes with 64GB of internal storage. You can spend an extra $50 to buy a 128GB variant.

Design

Both these phones are as different as Apple and Samsung are as brands. With a bigger size from every dimension, the Galaxy A51 weighs 0.8 ounces more than the iPhone SE 2020. It means that the Galaxy A51 allows you to view your content on a much bigger screen compared to the iPhone SE 2020. The screen size of the A51 is 6.5 inches, while that of the iPhone SE 2020 is 4.7 inches.

The Galaxy A51 comes with an in-screen fingerprint scanner and a headphone jack, both of which are not present in the iPhone SE 2020.

There are, however, some advantages that iPhone SE 2020 has over the A51. This iPhone may be smaller, but its body consists of high-grade materials, such as glass and metal. The A51, on the other hand, sports a plastic body. This iPhone also comes with an IP67 rating and wireless charging capability.

Display

One of the premia the Galaxy A51 comes with is its 6.5-inch OLED screen, which displays the rich hues and deep black in the best possible way. The increased-sized screen makes this phone even more immersive compared to the 4.7-inch LCD panels of the iPhone SE 2020.

The iPhone SE’s screen, on the other hand, gets brighter to up to 653-nits compared to the 353-nits peak brightness of the A51. The colors of the Samsung Galaxy A51 look more vibrant compared to the iPhone SE 2020, but that is what you can expect from a difference between OLED and LCD technologies.

Camera

The Galaxy A51 has four rear cameras on the back, and the iPhone SE 2020 has only one. But that shouldn’t trick you into believing that the iPhone’s camera is less capable. While the A51 camera unit is undoubtedly quite capable of taking top quality photos, the iPhone SE 2020 can take even better photos with accurate colors and better details. The quality of the A51’s photos drops significantly when there is low light. The iPhone SE’s camera, on the other hand, continues doing well with the photo quality.

Performance

The iPhone SE 2020 comes with the A13 Bionic chipset, which is the same processor chip working in the core of every phone in the iPhone 11 lineup. The Galaxy A51 comes with a mid-range Exynos 9611 CPU, which is not as fast as the A13.
